Copper oil is starting to be offered by various preservative chemical manufacturers, combining the biocide capacity of copper with the water repellent effect of oil. Copper elements can be used under various chemical forms (micronized, copper naphthenate etc) and integrated in various types of mineral oils.
This family of preservatives is currently on the rise in Europe due to the uncertainty surrounding the future of creosote due to possible regulatory changes in the not too distant future.
Copper oil impregnation is performed in a complex high pressure treatment plant due to differing treatment cycles which are required, and also because the treatment solution is being used at 60°C – 70°C.
