It is a sad and dangerous fact of life that untested pressure treatment equipment for wood treatment processes, as much as any other industrial processes, is finding its way onto the market in the UK and throughout the EU.
It goes without saying that this type of equipment does not comply with the PED and does not carry the CE mark. This is a false and risky economy! It is an offence to operate a pressure vessel that does not comply with current legislation.
Timber Preservation Technologies work to the following legislation:
PED (The Pressure Equipment Directive)
The Pressure Equipment Directive sets out the standards for design and fabrication of pressure equipment. The PED are guidelines to ensure that the directive is applied consistently and aims to guarantee a high level of safety.
The PD 5500:2018 is a BSI Standard. The PD 5500 is essential for organisations involved with the design, build and maintenance of pressure vessels. The specification for unfired fusion welded pressure vessels specifies requirements for the design and construction of pressure vessels.
